What We Do

At Catalysts’ Circle, we believe context matters.

We believe your unique mandate, strategies, and projects all have the capacity to strengthen the communities you are connected to.

Catalysts’ Circle can help you maximize that capacity to advance your own purpose & goals, while simultaneously contributing to healthier, more equitable and resilient communities. We work with you to explore what you are trying to achieve and leverage the Connected Community Approach to help you achieve it.

Whether you are a part of a research team, institution, government division, business, local organization, or grassroots group, you are a part of a community and we’d love to work with you!

We can help you…

1

Design inspirational & actionable engagement strategies

>  Strategic development of the community engagement framework
>  Internal asset mapping

Project: Centennial College

Our work with Centennial College involved supporting the development of a college-wide community engagement framework built on the college’s rich history and role within its various communities.

2

Galvanize your team to a common purpose with a Playbook

>  Development of a Playbook that turns theory into operational actions
>  Access to tools, resources, and coaching support

Project: Headwaters Communities in Action

Our work involved helping to strengthen Headwaters Communities in Action’s (HCIA) resilience post-pandemic by enabling them to live into their Theory of Change with concrete actions using the Connected Community Approach.

Learn more about this project in our Headwaters Communities in Action Playbook.

“We are more clear and more confident in how we present ourselves to our community. And we are motivated to carry these learnings forward and continue to champion the Connected Community Approach. Thank you!” Jen Hamilton, Council Member, Headwaters Leadership

3

Understand your local context; Who is doing what? Where can you add value?

>  Helping you to understand local players, activities, and projects
>  Exploring how you can add value to the rich ecosystem of activity already taking place

Project: Northcrest Developments

Our work with Northcrest Developments involved catalyzing local equity hiring by seeded community-based workforce pathways, using a collaborative and coordinated cross-community workforce development strategy.

4

Co-design impactful strategies & research projects

>  As project partners, we can help you to design and implement your project in ways that advance your own goals and strengthen local communities

Project: Visionary Communities

In this project we reimagined a research project so that the act of researching itself adds value to the local community.

“Working with the Catalysts’ Circle has been transformational for the Visionary Communities project and for me as a researcher. Their knowledge and experience of working in a community-centred way has given rise to fundamental changes in the project, which have allowed us to work in and with the neighbourhood in highly productive ways that could not have been possible otherwise. From training the interns in the Connected Communities approach, to co-leading the project, Anne Gloger’s contribution has been instrumental in whatever success we have achieved. Prof. John Robinson, Principal Investigator, Visionary Communities

5

Build staff capacity through professional development

>  Catalysts’ Circle offers engaging and impactful courses, workshops, and learning journeys that support your staff to be as effective as possible working with & in community

Project: York Region

Our work with York Region involved capacity building workshops and highlighting methods to leverage the Connected Communities Approach.

Learn more about our work here.

“Thank you for guiding a workshop that encouraged thoughtful reflection and meaningful exchange. Your approach helped us see our work with fresh eyes, revealing new connections between our individual efforts, the communities we partner with, and the long-term changes we hope to inspire. The insights gained are already shaping our conversations, prompting us to engage more openly and collaboratively with our colleagues, collaborators, and broader networks.” Iman Tagone, Community Development Program Specialist, York Region
